Bank Fees in Israel: What to Check First

Even after an account is open, that does not mean its real cost is clear. In Israel, some bank fees are supervised by the Bank of Israel, and those are the best place to start.

1. The basic current-account track

The official Bank of Israel page states that the Basic Track includes up to 10 direct-channel transactions and up to one teller transaction. The price of that track may not exceed NIS 10.

This is a useful comparison point: in some cases, ordinary fee-by-fee charging costs more than joining a track.

2. Which fees to look at first

  • the cost of maintaining the current account;
  • the price of a checkbook;
  • fees for teller-based transactions;
  • charges for transfers and other routine actions;
  • the exact terms of any discounts or benefits.

3. Why comparison matters

The Bank of Israel emphasizes that customers should be able to compare banking-service costs and choose the most suitable option. In practice, that means it is worth checking even after the account is opened whether a different fee structure would be cheaper.
